Sunday Sunny Sunday

A nice easy Sunday at home is the plan for today, with nothing to do but hopefully have a rest and relax, perhaps with some knitting to calm the mind.

We sometimes like to go for a Sunday drive and have a look out and about, we did this last Sunday and I would like to share some photos of our day with you.

knitting-on-the-go

I took my little stripey beach hut knitting with me, whilst hubby drove and pointed out places of interest as we cruised along.

We passed through many places that we would like to come back to when we have more time to explore.   We did stop to wander through a road side market which we spotted, so many wonderful handmade projects, and sweet stalls with cupcakes, jams, and spreads, little wooden toys for children, it was hard to resist taking a couple things home with us.

Our little ones made a great choice with these cute little wooden robots, keeping them entertained between stops for the remainder of the car trip.

mini-cupcakes

Did I mention there was sweet stalls with the most enticing cupcakes, we could not resist these teensy tiny mini cupcakes, they were the perfect size cupcakes for little ones (and Mummy).  And decorated beautifully indeed.

Then we ventured along further up into the Hills, and we came upon our first stop where the views where nothing short of spectacular.  We could see the City, those tall building peaks way off into the distance.  We were surrounded by beautiful hills, rolling green, waterfalls, pretty little streams, and fresh country air.

waterfalls

This is the view to the side of the Water Falls, there was a viewing platform above the Falls with grating forming part of the walkway so you could see the water flowing underneath your feet, the kids thought this was fantastic, and so did we.  It was rather windy from the platforms and very refreshing.   The nature walk to and from the Falls was really nice, we stopped and admired all the native plants, and I must say I did get left dawdling behind a couple of times trying to get photos, and at one stage I ran to catch up and our little one thought we were having a race and took off….. Daddy had to run to catch up and slow him down, we all really enjoyed our day out and about.

Dam

We then drove a little bit further along and came upon this Weir, also in the Perth hills.  We stopped and had a picnic lunch under the large shady trees, and must say it was a very popular tourist spot, many visitors were wandering along, chatting and taking photos.

We joined them wondering along this long walkway above the water.

Taking in the wonderful views, and enjoying the light winter sunshine, it truly was a lovely day, blue skies and white clouds.  Our children had fun making shapes out of the clouds, there were many dinosaurs in the sky this day.

Then it was time to turn around and head home, and my knitting began to take shape.   I love love love seeing a different coloured yarn on each needle, I really do.  When dusk started to fall we decided that it would be a lovely end to the day to have our Tea on the Beach.

Dinner-at-the-beach

And this was the perfect ending to a lovely family day out………watching the sunset over the Ocean with my loved ones.

Today, this Sunday will be a quiet day at home, my little ones are happily playing with their toys and enjoying the lovely fresh breeze coming through the open windows, and now I am off to join them, might even settle in with my knitting and make some slow easy progress on my cardigan.

Take care xx

Baking Days and Outback Sunsets

Cooking

Lots of yummy baking being done here today, cleaning out the Pantry.  A nice date loaf, some oaty cranberry cookies, and some toll house cookies, very delicious.  All the cookie tins are re-stocked and being enjoyed.  The Toll House Cookies recipe makes such a fluffy creamy mixture, a real pleasure to bake (and to eat).

Cuppa

I even managed to have a slice of date loaf still warm from the oven, spread with butter and served up with a hot cup of milky tea.  Was lovely indeed.

We had the most beautiful sunset this week, I went out to grab the last of the washing off the line and couldn’t help but notice the colour of the sky, so bright and vibrant.  I went back inside and grabbed my camera and tried to capture it as best I could, then stayed outside and watched the colours changing.

Lots happening here this week and we are very busy.  I have been trying to take time of an evening to get back to my knitting, which is progressing well now and will post some more photos soon.  Thanks for visiting my blog.

Enjoy xx
