But honestly I would much rather be here reminiscing the fun, relaxing times we had with family and friends, taking in this beautiful scenery…………………….

Sunshine, bright blue skies, mountains, and endless clear beaches……………………………

Grateful to be able to get out and about and enjoy exploring this spectacular Island home we have missed………………………

We have been doing a bit of exploring lately, some camping, some day trips out and about to get off the beaten track, I will think about these trips today, and the smiles on my little ones faces as they explored the World around them, they are back at School today, learning and exploring again, and hopefully they are still having an amazing time, and have huge smiles like they did yesterday on their first day back into it.

For me I am off to do those chores, take care xx

Baking Day

This last week has seen us finally get a new oven installed, the old one gave out weeks ago and it was a bit of a process to get a new one.  But it is all sorted now and since I took time out to clean and tidy the pantry yesterday I decided to do some baking with my supplies today.

ginger-slice

First up was this delicious ginger crunch slice, my boys both enjoyed some and happily informed me that it tastes really yummy just like gingerbread men.

crumbs

There was a lot of crumbs left in the tray from cutting the ginger crunch, so I poured it all into a little jar and am thinking it might be nice sprinkled over vanilla ice-cream later in the week.

brownie-slice

And next was my very first attempt at Chocolate Brownies, made with dark, milk and white chocolate.  It smelt divine whilst cooking and I must say has turned out fantastic.  Very yummy indeed.  I think next baking day I might need to add some savoury as well, although we don’t cook a lot of very sweet treats like these brownies so I think this is fine.

I have also been busy with my crochet hook, whipping up some wash cloths and have managed to make a small start on a dish cloth today.  I am hoping to be able to gift some for Christmas presents, and I am adding myself to the list as well, I mean I really should make some for myself to know that they are nice to receive as a gift…… right….. thats my idea anyway.   Now I might make a cup of tea, and settle down for a short time to do some more dishcloth making.

Take care xx

By The Seaside

I enjoy looking back through our vacations photos, brings it all back nice and fresh in my memory.   Especially when I am finding it hard to get back into the swing of things, so I am happy to share some lovely seaside photos here today.

Spring-vacation-shells-at-d

One of my favourite things to do is simply fossick along the shoreline for pretty shells, I remember doing this as a child, and now I am doing the same thing with my children, and it is wonderful.

shells

Look at all these gorgeous teeny tiny little shells.  Can you imagine a beach made entirely from billions of these tiny shells……… we visited one such beach and appropriately it is called Shell Beach.  It is apparently one of only two beaches like this in the World.  Amazing……

spring-vacation-shark-bay-s

Bright blue sky, crisp white shells, and the clear sea water………. was spectacular indeed.

From here we headed further along the coast and found some pretty impressive beaches and very nice weather, after leaving grey stormy days it was a bit of a surprise to the senses to be in such warm weather.  There was lots of slip, slop, slap, sunsmart practice happening this week.

Spring-vacation-monkey-mia

We spent some lovely days here on this beach, and seen some very friendly sealife doing their own thing as they desired.  This is Monkey Mia, located within the Shark Bay World Heritage Area in Western Australia.

pelican

This is Mr Pelican, who was paddling along the waters edge.  We stopped and said hi and then went on our way.  The water is absolutely beautiful, crystal clear, turquoise blues, very enticing.

dolphins

Oh the joy I felt when this dolphin swam past as we were wading along, we were so lucky this day as the dolphins were doing their natural thing, had spotted some yummy looking fish and were hunting them along the shoreline, so they came close to us, we simply had to stand still and let them do their thing and take lots of photos of course.   Some lucky swimmers had them swimming around them, you could see the delight on the young swimmers face, reflected in my own as they swam past me I am sure.   Most of the day you see them here and there off in the distance, but to see them come in this close was wonderful indeed.  Oh I absolutely adore dolphins, they are simply beautiful.

spring-vacation-denham-boat

This is the nearby town of Denham, we would stroll along the beachfront every day to enjoy the sights, and I must say I took a lot of dinghy photos, but I do like them, looking very relaxed resting on the beaches.  We would spend our evenings relaxing on the beaches ourselves, with our picnic tea, how easily I could go back there right now, it was very enjoyable.  We seen so many lovely sights, and most of all I enjoyed spending time with my loved ones, hopefully making many happy memories for our little ones.  They do talk about our vacation, the many exciting sights we seen, the activities we filled our spare time with, and I like to think that even though they are young, they will remember this for years to come.

And now I am off to make a cup of tea, before I have a few chores to do then hopefully I might be able to do a few rows of knitting whilst dreaming more about our vacation days.

Enjoy xx

Craft Time Fun

It is such a beautiful sun shiny day here today, we spent the morning out on our patio making some sweet little jars of seaside.

craft-time-fun2

We spread out our supplies, scissors, jars, cardboard, pencil, sand, and shells.  We set about cutting out our shapes, we decided on fishes and starfish.   Then we poured some sand into our jars, placed a couple of shells in each, a fish, and a starfish each.

craft-time-fun1

And here we have our own little Seaside in a Jar………………… so simple yet so wonderful.    We absolutley love the seaside and having these little jars in our home, well it makes me smile every time I look at them.   My boys had a great time making them and they are taking pride of place on the toy table at this very moment.

Now this is only a small but sweet blog today, as the sun is shining beautifully and I am heading back out to our patio with a cup of tea and a good read, to make the most of this gorgeous weather.

Take care xx

Sunday Sunny Sunday

A nice easy Sunday at home is the plan for today, with nothing to do but hopefully have a rest and relax, perhaps with some knitting to calm the mind.

We sometimes like to go for a Sunday drive and have a look out and about, we did this last Sunday and I would like to share some photos of our day with you.

knitting-on-the-go

I took my little stripey beach hut knitting with me, whilst hubby drove and pointed out places of interest as we cruised along.

We passed through many places that we would like to come back to when we have more time to explore.   We did stop to wander through a road side market which we spotted, so many wonderful handmade projects, and sweet stalls with cupcakes, jams, and spreads, little wooden toys for children, it was hard to resist taking a couple things home with us.

robots

Our little ones made a great choice with these cute little wooden robots, keeping them entertained between stops for the remainder of the car trip.

mini-cupcakes

Did I mention there was sweet stalls with the most enticing cupcakes, we could not resist these teensy tiny mini cupcakes, they were the perfect size cupcakes for little ones (and Mummy).  And decorated beautifully indeed.

view-1

Then we ventured along further up into the Hills, and we came upon our first stop where the views where nothing short of spectacular.  We could see the City, those tall building peaks way off into the distance.  We were surrounded by beautiful hills, rolling green, waterfalls, pretty little streams, and fresh country air.

waterfalls

This is the view to the side of the Water Falls, there was a viewing platform above the Falls with grating forming part of the walkway so you could see the water flowing underneath your feet, the kids thought this was fantastic, and so did we.  It was rather windy from the platforms and very refreshing.   The nature walk to and from the Falls was really nice, we stopped and admired all the native plants, and I must say I did get left dawdling behind a couple of times trying to get photos, and at one stage I ran to catch up and our little one thought we were having a race and took off….. Daddy had to run to catch up and slow him down, we all really enjoyed our day out and about.

Dam

We then drove a little bit further along and came upon this Weir, also in the Perth hills.  We stopped and had a picnic lunch under the large shady trees, and must say it was a very popular tourist spot, many visitors were wandering along, chatting and taking photos.

dam-3

We joined them wondering along this long walkway above the water.

dam-2

Taking in the wonderful views, and enjoying the light winter sunshine, it truly was a lovely day, blue skies and white clouds.  Our children had fun making shapes out of the clouds, there were many dinosaurs in the sky this day.

knitting-on-the-go1

Then it was time to turn around and head home, and my knitting began to take shape.   I love love love seeing a different coloured yarn on each needle, I really do.  When dusk started to fall we decided that it would be a lovely end to the day to have our Tea on the Beach.

Dinner-at-the-beach

And this was the perfect ending to a lovely family day out………watching the sunset over the Ocean with my loved ones.

Today, this Sunday will be a quiet day at home, my little ones are happily playing with their toys and enjoying the lovely fresh breeze coming through the open windows, and now I am off to join them, might even settle in with my knitting and make some slow easy progress on my cardigan.

Take care xx

Reflections

I have been doing a lot of reflecting lately, looking back on life and people who have meant so much to me, those I hold dear, and thinking about where life might be headed, so much is out of our control, and that which is in our control, how I do hope we are making the right decisions when they fall upon us, which is daily really isn’t it…….

Okay I think that is enough seriousness on my part for today, moving on to some nice photos from the Apple Aisle.

I mentioned yesterday I might blog some of my photos from Tasmania, when I went looking through my files, I came across quite a few lovely river reflections, it was a beautiful clear morning and I had been to call upon family but as they were out and about, and I happened to have my camera with me, took a long detour on my way back home and stopped for lots of photo opportunities, and would like to share some of them with you.

clouds-reflected

Clouds reflecting on the River, reflections always make really good photos I think.

Beach

Beautiful views out across the river, green hills, blue skies and white clouds on such a crisp winters day all reflecting along the rivers way.

picnic

Came across this dear little picnic spot, how nice would it be to sit here with a packed hamper filled with fresh goodies, and perhaps fit in a row or two of knitting, or some hooky crochet………

trees

These beautiful trees, changing with the seasons………………

sheep

These funny little sheep which we stopped to give way to on this little country road………………….. which takes me back to thinking about wool and knitting………………

I have tackled my first knitted vest, yes I felt it was time to try an item of clothing, it has gone okay and was definitely a learning curve and I am glad I started with something small, I will blog about this later in the week.

As for now I think I might take a stroll….

Take care xx

Hello Again

I am sorry that I have not blogged for such a very long time.   I had been managing a post here and there whilst we were moving however I knew I would take a bit to get back into it whilst the move took place, but whilst all this was happening we had a very sad turn of events here, and my world was turned upside down.  We had been in our new home for 2 nights when I got a phone call from back home in Tassie to say that my much loved Grandmother was passing, everything since that phone call was a bit of a blur, packing and getting to the airport to catch the earliest plane we could, but distance and time was just not on our side.   I won’t talk about this much on here, as there is just too much emotion and pain, and words can never explain how great the pain and loss of such a wonderful Nanna can be.  But I will say that I miss her so very much each and every day, and I will cherish out time together forevermore.

Tamar-River

We stayed in Tasmania for around 3 weeks, and during that stay I took some time out to go on a quiet Sunday drive to help collect my thoughts, I took my camera along and took some lovely photos along the Tamar River, I like this one with the reflections on the water, including the boat and clouds, and the Batman Bridge in the background.

I have been trying to keep busy, doing knitting, looking after my two gorgeous boys, and of course housework which there always seem to be plenty of.

A-flowers-kings-park

I will try to post again tomorrow, with some more pretty landscape photos hopefully.
